Every piece you see here is created to do more than just fill a space—it is designed to become a part of it.

I am David, an artist specializing in Hyperrealism. My work blends traditional drawing techniques with a contemporary perspective, exploring detail, expression, and symbolism. Each piece is created entirely by hand, stroke by stroke, the result of countless hours of work.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a decorative sheet?

A decorative print is an art reproduction on premium paper, ready for framing. At David Mateo Art, each print starts from an original drawing made entirely by hand with charcoal and graphite pencil, printed with Giclée technology. The result is a piece with museum quality and real artistic value, very different from conventional posters.

Is David Mateo's art generated with artificial intelligence?

No, not at all. Every piece you see in the store is hand-drawn by me, with graphite or charcoal, stroke by stroke. I don't use AI, image generators, or any creative assistance software. I am an artist from Orihuela (Alicante), and each piece is born in my studio. In fact, that authenticity is precisely what makes these works valuable: you are buying a real fragment of an artist's work, not an image manufactured by an algorithm.

Are the prints handmade or generic computer prints?

The original drawings are made entirely by hand, stroke by stroke, with graphite and charcoal. What you are purchasing is a faithful reproduction of that original, printed with Giclée technology on heavyweight paper—the same system museums use for their prints. So you get the level of detail of a handmade original, suitable for any space. And without AI or automatic generators: everything you see was drawn by me.

What exactly is Giclée printing and why is it better than a normal poster?

Giclée is the highest quality printing technique available for paper art. It uses high-density archival inks on premium heavyweight paper, which achieves deep blacks, extreme detail, and durability for decades without the colors—in this case, grays and whites—losing intensity. A standard poster uses cheaper inks on thin paper: soon the blacks lose contrast and the paper yellows. With a Giclée print, you literally have museum quality on your wall.

How much does a print cost and what sizes are available?

Prints start from around €30 for an A4 size (21x30 cm). From there you can go up: 30x40, A2 (42x59 cm), 50x70 cm or 61x91 cm, with prices according to the format. Worldwide shipping is included in the price, with no surprises when ordering. If you're not sure which size fits your wall, on each print's page you'll find a visual guide to help you decide.

What is the style of David Mateo's art? Is it suitable for all types of decor?

My style is black and white Gothic hyperrealism: pencil and charcoal drawings with an extreme level of detail that blends the beauty of wild animals, the symbolism of skulls, and portraits with a dark and contemporary aesthetic. It's a very specific art with a lot of personality, so it fits especially well in modern, minimalist, or alternative spaces. If you're looking for something neutral or generic Nordic decor, I'm probably not your artist. But if you want your wall to tell a story, you'll find it here.

Can I commission a custom portrait of a person or my pet?

Yes, it's one of the most special services I offer. I create hyperrealistic portraits of people and pets using pencil or charcoal, drawn entirely by hand. The base price is €500, and to reserve your spot, you only need to pay a deposit of €100. Orders are shipped within Spain and the EU. If you're interested, the first step is to contact me with your reference photo so we can discuss the work together.

How long does it take for an order to arrive and how is it shipped?

The prints are made to order, so the usual lead time is about 3-5 business days for production plus shipping time: about 5-10 days if you are in the EU, 7-15 days if you are in the USA, and 10-20 days for the rest of the world. All shipments include tracking so you can locate your package at all times. The print is securely packaged to ensure it arrives in perfect condition, without wrinkles or creases.

Can I return a print if I don't like it when it arrives home?

As the prints are made to order specifically for you, please note that they are customized items. It's best to contact me before purchasing if you have any questions about the size, paper type, or how it would look in your space—I'll be happy to guide you. For portrait commissions, I'll send you a high-resolution photo of the finished drawing before you pay the remaining balance, so you can be sure the result is exactly what you expected.

Is it a good gift for someone who likes art or decor?

It's one of the best gifts you can give someone with that profile, and I'm serious. An original museum-quality print, handmade by a real artist, is something you don't buy at El Corte Inglés or Amazon. If the person has alternative or dark tastes, or simply appreciates well-made things, they'll be impressed. Plus, I have digital gift cards so the recipient can choose their favorite print themselves if you prefer not to risk choosing the design.

Where is David Mateo's studio located, and does he ship to all of Spain and abroad?

My studio is in Orihuela, in the province of Alicante (Spain). From here I ship prints and fashion worldwide, completely free and with tracking. Due to customs regulations, commissioned portraits and original artworks are limited to Spain and the European Union. The store is available in Spanish and English, and you can pay in euros or dollars depending on your location.
